Golders Greene

The bet of day is David Greene to win gold in the 400m hurdles tonight at 1/4, put 10 times your standard on it...yes Golders Greene is the best pun I could come up with.

Put your 5 times your standard on Juan Manuel Marquez tonight at 4/11.

We are going to put 3 times our standard on over 1.5 goals in the Arsenal vs Milan game at 1/3.

Put your standard on the following:
Almagro at 1/2
Ferrero at 3/5
Murray at 1/2

Friday 30 July 2010

Superwoman

We'll start with the bet of the day and that is Jessica Ennis to win the Heptathlon at2/5, put 10 times your standard on Britain's Superwoman.

There are plenty of finals today too, so put your standard on the following:
Antyukh to win the 400m hurdles at 4/9
Both Meadows and Simpson to win a medal in the 800m at 11/8
Bingham to win a medal in the 400m at 2/5
Lemaitre to win the 200m at 1/3
Andy Baddeley to win the 1500m at 9/4
Montanes at 6/5
Almagro at 4/9
Querrey at 4/11
Melzer at 2/5

Now I know we already have England to win the Test Match but after yesterday's play I am now even more convinced that England will win and hence I advice to pile on 5 times your standard at 4/9.

Finally put 2 times your standard on Spain to lift the U19 Euro Champs at 1/2.

Thursday 29 July 2010

The biggest club in the world

This is how Joe Cole described Liverpool but, much like Juventus, this must sound far from the truth as they set out to qualify for the Europa League today.

Put your standard on the following today:
Juventus at 1/4
Liverpool at 1/3
Gulbis at 4/9
Laura Turner to finish in top 3 of the 100m at 13/8
England to beat Pakistan in the first test match at 4/5

The bet of the day is Idowu to finish in the top 3 of the triple jump at 1/5. Put 10 times your standard on it.

Wednesday 28 July 2010

Cycle 2, Day 5 Summary

We've hit a few stumbling blocks as profit has taken a break, we are at £52.57 profit for the cycle and £817.64 profit overall.

It isn't a disaster and we will move forward eventually.

2 down

We will find out about our bet on Dwain Chambers this evening and there are some other interesting battles out on the track too.

The bet of day is to take Team GB to win more than 14.5 medals at 1/3. Put 10 times your standard on it. With two medals already there, team GB only need 13 more to reach the target.

Put your standard on the following:
Ajax at 4/11
Monatanes at 1/6
Chela at 8/13

Put 5 times your standard on Kolchanova to be in the top 3 of the women's long jump at 1/5.

Tuesday 27 July 2010

10k

Put your standard on the following today:

Dynamo Kiev at 2/7
Golubev at 2/5
Almagro at 1/5
Mardy Fish at 2/7
Northants at 2/1
Lancashire at 6/5

The bet of the day is Mo Farah to win the 10000m at 8/15. This is, if anything, to make it an interesting watch.

Monday 26 July 2010

The LA Scot

Back Andy Murray to win at Los Angeles this week with 5 times your standard at 5/4.

Put your standard on Hampshire and Sussex in the T20, each at 11/10.

Put your standard on the following:

Istomin at 1/4
Gasquet at 1/8
Gulbis at 1/2

The bet of the day comes from a friendly, it is normally inadvisable to bet on friendlies but that tends to surround the result. This is a bet on goals, put 10 times your standard on over 1.5 goals in the Bray Wanderers vs Villarreal game at 1/5.

Cycle 2, Day 2 Summary

The realisation of a couple of long term bets has got us back on track, and after two days in cycle 2 we are in a profit of £159.31.

This gives an overall profit of £924.38.

Sunday 25 July 2010

Just Rewards

We ought to recover some losses today with Contador and Phil Taylor looking good in their competitions, just rewards for sensible long term decisions.

Put your standard on Melzer at 4/9.

Put 5 times your standard on Hamilton to finish in the top 6 at 3/10.

Put 5 times your standard on Schumacher to finish in the points at 1/2.

The bet of the day is Mark Cavendish to win Stage 20 at 1/2. Put 10 times your standard on it.

Saturday 24 July 2010

Euro Athletics Prediction

After the world championships I wrote a piece looking ahead to the Euros and what we could expect from Britain...

http://www.thebinocular.co.uk/2009/08/25/british-athletics-on-the-rise-again/

New Moon

Today we begin cycle 2 and we will look for strong profits once again, although we are likely to start with a £50 hole as Australia look set to lose to Pakistan.

Put 5 times your standard on the Dutch u19s to beat Austria u19 at 7/19

Put your standard on the Germany and Sweden Women's U20s to both win at 1.65/1.

Put your standard on :

Isner at 4/11
Mardy Fish at 9/4
Melzer at 4/9

Put 5 times your standard on Contador to finish in the top 3 of stage 19 at 11/20.
Put 5 times your standard on Cancellara to win stage 19 at evens.

The bet of the day is in the European Championships Men's 100m, put 10 times your standard on Dwain Chambers at 4/5.

End of Cycle 1 Summary

With 4 weeks gone, we can bring an end to the first cycle.

In the 4 weeks we started off well with strong profits in the first 3 weeks but a poor last week put a dent in our overall profits.

After 4 weeks we have a profit of £765.07.

Friday 23 July 2010

Last day of the cycle

This will be the last day of the first 4 week cycle, we'll break profit reviews up in to 4 week summary so we can see the latest form more clearly.

Put your standard on the following today:

Fish at 1/3
John Isner at 1/3
Istomin at evens
Melzer at 4/9
Mark Cavendish at evens
Ricky Ponting to make a 100 at 4/6

The bet of the day is in the boxing, Stuart Hall at 5/18, put 10 times your standard on it.

Thursday 22 July 2010

Big day on tour

Today is being touted as the defining day of the Tour de France, I'm not too sure but I fancy something interesting will happen. The good thing is we don't need to predict what that will be. This is because the bet of the day has come good with the following:

Head to Head Matchbet for Stage 17, Contador vs Schleck. Paddy Power have Schleck at evens, whilst Bet365 have Contador at 11/10. Magic.

Put a ratio of 20:21 on Contador:Schleck to win 1 standard.

Apparently teams want to qualify for the Europa League, and today they are trying to do just that, put your standard on the following:

Ostrava at 1/5
Dinamo Bucharest at 1/8
Bronby at 8/15
Rapid Vienna at 1/7

On to the tennis and put your standard on the following:
Hewitt at 2/9
Ferrero at 4/11
Storace at 1/2
Fognini at 7/4
Kohlschreiber at 11/10

Finally put your standard on David Oliver to beat the world record in the 110m hurdles at 6/4.

Day 26 Summary

It's not been a good week as we fall further from our £1000 profit target. We are left with profit of £876.29. But this looks set to fall by another £150 as India look to lose the 1st test and Australia don't look like winning the 2nd test.

In brighter news the Tour de France, Tri-Nations, and Darts Matchplay bets still have some legs, and if all comes good we could bag a profit of £193.73

Wednesday 21 July 2010

K.I.S.S

"Michael always says "K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid". Great advice, hurts my feelings every time." - Dwight Schrute, The US Office.

It is annoying when you don't take someones advice and it costs you, it is even more annoying when you don't take your own advice and it costs you. I am going to say this and mean it this time, if you think about betting on darts, think about it again and then do not bet on darts.

Oh well, another day...

Test Cricket - Australia to win the 2nd Test at 8/11, put 5 times your standard on it.

Tennis - Put your standard on the following:
Dent at 4/7
Isner at 2/7
Montanes at 1/3
Almagro at 2/9
Melzer at 4/11

Boxing - Danny Green at 1/7 put 5 times your standard on it.

Football -

Rosenborg at 1/8, with your standard.
Sparta Prague at 1/7, with 10 times your standard, the bet of the day.

Tuesday 20 July 2010

The Joe Cole signing

It is no surprise that he didn't end up at Arsenal. He simply didn't fit the strict wage structure.

In 05/06 Liverpool conceded 25 league goals, 06/07 it was 27, then 28, then 27 again, until last season where that jumped to 35. Joe Cole is not a solution to this issue.

If Joe Cole plays on the left, he is entering the position that was often occupied by Benayoun. If we look at it as a straight swap with Benayoun then Liverpool have secured a bargain with the reported £5-6 million for Benayoun plus J Cole.

Is this enough intent to keep Gerrard and Torres? No, this move doesn't show enough intent on its own. In fact it shows the opposite, they don't have the cash for bigger moves.

Who else could Liverpool sign to show true intent? I do think that Gerrard and Torres will stick around, and I don't think it will take too much more for Liverpool to get back to where they were a couple of years ago. With Jovanovic they have signed another solid top 4 player, and if injuries at the back stay clear then the quad of Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Agger and Skrtel ought to be strong enough.

If you were to question areas of which Liverpool could improve after last season you would suggest that the defence wasn't strong enough all across the line, the spine of the team was a mess after Alonso left, there was no consistency on the wings, was it Babel, Benayoun, Riera, Rodriguez or Aurelio? And you would also say that there wasn't proper cover for Torres.

So how have they dealt with this? Well the defence ought to fix itself in the centre, Agger and Skrtel ought to fare better with injuries this year. Carragher is a worry, the reliance on a player who is still good but perhaps not what he once was is dangerous. Johnson will need to improve defensively, and I don't know what they are doing at left back. Oh how they miss John Arne Riise and his 122 abs. At least Pepe Reina is genuinely World Class. Perhaps it is Roy Hodgson's first job, to fix the defence that had Liverpool winning trophies before last year.

Reina, Johnson, Agger, Carragher, Mascherano, Aquilani, Gerrard, J Cole, Kuyt, TorresIt looks strong, except for the gap at left back, with Aurelio gone and Insua set to leave, it looks like Degen might play there for a while, or perhaps Agger will cover with Skrtel in the centre.

There is cover too with Jovanovic, Riera, Kyrgiakos, Babel, Rodriguez, Lucas, N'gog, Spearing, Pacheco and Shelvy. The problem again is sufficient defensive cover.

So all in all, Joe Cole is certainly a good signing with minimal risk. Liverpool still have a good squad which is actually looking strong in attack, but where is the defensive depth?

Tennis Tuesday

There is plenty Tennis going on today so put your standard on the following:

Dent at 2/1
K Anderson at 11/8
Dolgopolov at 6/4
Chela at 2/5
Seppi at 4/11
Robredo at 13/18
Fognini at 8/15
Ferrero at 2/7

I know its Darts but stay with me, the bet of the day is Phil Taylor at -6.5 legs at 5/6. Put 10 times your standard on it and this ought to cover any mess we make on the tennis.

Day 24 Summary

After 24 days we are at £931.82 profit. We still have several long term bets going, the Tri Nations, the Tour de France, The Darts Matchplay, the 1st Test between India and Sri Lanka.

Monday 19 July 2010

Grand nerves

We've struggled to push on through £900 profit to the 4 figure sums, but we must continue with the same methods that got us there in the first place.

Stick 10 times your standard on Sri Lanka and India to draw the 1st Test Match at 1/6. There is a slight risk because 3 and a half days is a long time and things can change dramatically in test match cricket, but with the batting power of the two sides and the rain too a draw looks by far the most likely.

Put your standard on the following:
Fish at 1/10
Mayer at 4/6
Rochus at 4/6
Fognini at 4/5

The bet of the day is Bangalesh to beat Scotland in the ODI at 2/7. Put 10 times your standard on it as always.

Sunday 18 July 2010

T20 climax

The T20 group stage is coming to a close and we've made profits from it. We'll continue with the same tactic by backing the outsider in each game.

Put your standard on the following:
Yorkshire at 13/10
Durham at evens
Middlesex at 11/10
Gloucestershire at 6/4
Leicestershire at 11/10
Kent at 7/4
Worcestershire at 6/4
Hampshire at 11/10

Put your standard on Contador to win stage 14 at 11/8.

The bet of the day comes from Szavay vs Strycova. Szavay is 8/15 at Ladbrokes and Strycova is 2/1 at Bwin.

Put 45:23 on Szavay:Strycova to win one standard.

Saturday 17 July 2010

Heat vs Cavs

Miami vs Cleveland tonight in the NBA Summer League...just saying.

3D Darts

If you are trying to convince someone that this 3d stuff is getting a bit much then start your argument with 3d Darts.

I normally advice people to stay away from darts, mainly because the Premier League Darts is on a Thursday and Thursdays are evil days that just want to take your money, but on this occasion I will advice you to put 10 times your standard on Phil Taylor at 4/9 to win the World Matchplay tournament.

Do the math

The bet of the day is Ferrero vs Montanes and Schnyder vs Strycova.

Strycova is 7/4 at extrabet and Schnyder is 4/6 at BetFred. Put a ratio of 20:33 on Strycova:Schnyder to win 2 standards.

Ferrero is 7/10 at BoyleSport and Montanes is 13/8 at extrabet. Put a ratio of 13.6:21 on Montanes:Ferrero to win 1.1 standards.

Put your standard on Monfils at 8/15.

Take David Tua to win by KO tonight at 1/4 and Bradley to win by decision at 13/8. Put 5 times your standard on each.

Here is a tip for you, Tim Bradley is at best 1/6 to win tonight. So if for example you bet £868.50 on Bradley to win, you would win £144.75. If instead you split the £868.50 and bet £396 on the KO, TKO or DQ win at 6/5 and £472.50 on the decision at 13/8, then you would win £171 if either came off. This offers odds of 0.197/1 instead of 0.167/1.

Do the math people, do the math.

Mark Cavendish has served us well but Mark Renshaw is DQ'd and he is so important for Cavendish up top. I do believe Cavendish has the legs to beat anyone if he's in the right position and at 4/1 I'd say that was good enough value for him to take the stage. Put your standard on it.

3 week profit

3 weeks in, we are up £906.07 tax free.

Friday 16 July 2010

Back the Bolt

Usain Bolt is 1/6 to beat Asafa Powell in Paris tonight over 100m. Put 5 times your standard on the greatest sprinter of all time.

3 weeks later

Today is going to have to be a quick one.

Put your standard on the following:
Monfils at evens
Ferrero at 1/3
Soderling at 1/8
Ferrer at 2/11

Rory Mcilroy to be leader at the end of round 2 at 12/5.

The bet of the day is in the U20s Womens World Cup gam between Brazil and Sweden

Put 20 times your standard on the Over 2.5 goals at 11/10 at Betfair and put 21 times your standard on the Under 2.5 goals at evens at StanJames. This will win us one standard.

We'll use the same method that served us well last time by backing the outsider in each T20 game today, so put your standard on the following:

Gloucestershire at 7/4
Leicestershire at 6/5
Worcestershire at 7/4
Kent at evens
Northants at 6/5
Middlesex at 6/5
Essex at 11/8

Put 5 times your standard on Bangladesh to beat Ireland at 4/7.

Thursday 15 July 2010

The Thursday Syndrome

It is common to get bored with Thursdays and put a bet on something you would never normally bet on. My advice is to just wait for the weekend.

Put your standard on the following:

Almagro at 2/7
Verdasco at 1/6
Davydenko at 2/9
Monfils at 1/4

Mark Cavendish looks the most likely for Stage 11 at evens, so pop 2 times your standard on it.

The bet of the day is Robredo vs Golubev

Robredo is 1/2 and Boylesport and Golubev is 9/4 at Coral.

So put a ratio of 12:26 on Golubev:Robredo per standard. We'll put 52 on Robredo and 24 on Golubev to win 2 standards.

Wednesday 14 July 2010

Day 19 Summary

A rubbish couple of days saw us in loss, but it was minimal so we can live with it. We are at a profit of £752.66, and a bet of the day record of 18 out of 19.

We still have some long term bets out there and they are looking OK so we can expect some future profits which may lead us to some riskier adventures come the start of the football season.

Over/Under

Put your standard on the following today:

Melzer at 4/11
Ferrero at 1/3
Ferrer at 1/5

Soderling to win 2-0 at 1/4. Put 5 times your standard on it as always.

The bet of the day comes from the U20's Women's world cup.

In the game between USA and Ghana, back the Under 2.5 goals at 3/1 at Sporting Bet and the Over 2.5 goals at 5/11 at bwin.

Put 20 times your standard on the Under and 55 times your standard on the Over to win 5 standards. Put as much as you can on it with a ratio of 4:11 Under:Over.

Tuesday 13 July 2010

A quick tip

In blackjack if you lose a hand you can double up next hand until you win. Limited by table maximums.

In cricket there is a similar opportunity. Many in-play markets offer you over/under runs on individual balls. If you take the over 0.5 which is over evens in Test cricket most of the time, and double up each time you lose on the assumption that there will eventually be a run then you can make some money. This is easier to do than blackjack because 1) the odds are well above evens, and 2) the maximum bet is almost always much higher.

The home of Pakistani Cricket

Pakistan are playing their "home" test against Australia at Lord's today. They have won the toss and conditions will dictate the result. Take Australia to win at 11/10 with 2 times your standard.

Tennis doesn't know

Let's start with the bet of the day.

Robredo is 1/4 at William Hill, and Przysiezny is 9/2 at Paddy Power.

Put 10 times your standard on Przysiezny and 44 times your standard on Robredo and we have a guaranteed profit of one standard. Pile on as much as you can though with the ratio 10:44 Przysiezny:Robredo.

This is becoming fairly common in Tennis now, a sign of how competitive tennis is.

Put your standard on the following:
Kohlschreiber at 1/3
Gilles Simon at 2/9
Sparta Prague to win or draw at 1/8

Put your standard on Contador winning Stage 9 at 7/1.

I'll be back later to give my pick on Pakistan vs Australia.

Monday 12 July 2010

Day 17 Summary

After 17 days we have extended our profit to £763.55.

We have however ruined the perfect bet of the day record and are now at 16-1.

We also have long term bets on the Tour, Tri-Nations and the tennis at Bastad to wait out.

It had to happen eventually

We finally lost a bet of the day making it 15 out of 16 now.

New day, new week.

Today is a quiet one, we'll take the bet of the day as England at 1/7 to beat Bangladesh in the decider, with 10 times our standard as always. We picked Bangladesh to pick up one victory but the series win is unrealistic.

Put your standard on the following:
Hanescu at 3/10
Fognini at 2/7

Take Soderling to win Bastad at 11/8 with 5 times your standard.

Sunday 11 July 2010

Mismatch

The World Cup Final is upon us and the final I picked from the start has come to fruition. Although I have backed Holland all the way, I have to admit the Spain team are a better side. Both teams have remarkable records, but the Spanish team have more experience from their players at both club and country level in these important games. However throughout the tournament I would say Spain have shown more nerves than the Dutch.

I am however going to stick my standard on Holland to win the world cup at 13/8.

Why? When I look all over the pitch, the biggest mismatch that sticks out in my mind is Robben vs Capdevila.

The bet of the day is a low risk one, but after the great day yesterday I am pulling back a little. Over 1.5 goals at 5/9. Put 10 times your standard on it.

Put your standard on the following:
Fish at 2/5
Monfils at 4/6

We are going to do a little experiment here by taking the outsiders in each T20 Cup game today.

So put your standard on:
Derbyshire at 6/4
Gloucestershire at 8/5
Northants at 9/5
Surrey at 6/4
Worcestershire at evens
Essex at evens
Glamorgan at evens

King Contador is 2/1 to win Stage 8, put your standard on it.

Put 5 times your standard on Button to get a points finish at 4/6.

Saturday 10 July 2010

Goals Galore

I've never seen a 3rd/4th Playoff at a World Cup in my lifetime which had less than 3 goals. So let's go for over 2.5 goals at 10/13. This is the bet of the day so put 10 times your standard on it.

Take Mardy Fish at 1/9 with your standard.

Take Bangladesh at 15/2, and Ireland at 8/15. Put your standard on each.

Put 5 times your standard on Juan Manuel Lopez at 1/10 and Saul Alvarez at 1/12.

Back Webber to overcome his high-speed crash and take pole position at 12/5. Put your standard on this.

Friday 9 July 2010

Fortnight

"Fortnight. British words are so cool." - Marshall, HIMYM

After 14 days we have a profit of £636.54. We have a 14 out of 14 record on the bet of the day.

We also have two bets running, Contador to win the Tour and Australia not to win the tri-nations rugby.

Know the surface

There are some Davis Cup matches on today and it is important that you know the surface that the matches are being played on.

We'll start with the bet of the day though. Cilic to beat Troicki at 3/10. It's on the hard courts and he should walk it, put 10 times your standard on it.

Put one times your standard on the following:

Davydenko at 8/13
Djokovic at 1/4
Fish at 1/4
Verdasco at 8/13

We are now up 2 standards on Cavendish so let's hope he can build on his win yesterday and let's give up those 2 standards on him to win stage 6 at 11/10.

A long term bet for you here is to back New Zealand to win the tri nations at 5/4 and South Africa to win the tri nations at 6/4. Put 10 times your standard on New Zealand and 9 times your standard on South Africa. This will give us profit of 3.5 standards if Australia don't spring a surprise.

O M G

Oh my goodness, a combined career 73.4 points per game, 21.3 rebounds per game and 15.8 assists per game. Last season it went to 80.3 points per game, 22.9 rebounds per game and 17.5 assists per game.

Sources are saying Lebron has signed for Miami, which means it will be Lebron-Bosh-Wade.

Someone buy me a Miami Heat #23 James Jersey asap!

P.S. If LeBron ends up signing for someone else then I am going to look pretty silly in my Miami Jersey.

Thursday 8 July 2010

I've said it before

and i'll say it again. Thursdays suck.

Little to nothing going on today.

Lebron James is announcing which team he will sign for on live tv tonight. Amazing right?

There are 4 places where he might go. He might stay at the Cavs, move to Miami, New York or Chicago.

I am stumped. Would he really give Cavs another go considering all the other options out there right now? Would he move to Miami after they've already signed up Wade and Bosh, how exactly are they paying for it? Would he dare put on the Bulls 23 Jersey?

All in all, the bookies think he's going to be in Cleveland or Miami next year. But I think the value is in New York, so put your standard on 7/2. If he signs for Cleveland then I will be stunned but then again would he really put on an hour long Lebron James special on prime time on ESPN if he wasn't signing for Cleveland. If he signs for Miami then Wade, Bosh and James in the same city, it is going to be special. If he signs for Chicago, which I think would be his best move, then we'll see him put on Jordan's jersey. It is retired ofcourse, but he won't put another number on.

Bangladesh are actually good value at 6/1, and with a 3 match series I think they could knick one, if we put our standard on Bangladesh each game and they lose all 3 matches then we only lose 3 standards which isn't a disaster.

He's got to win one this Tour right? We've already lost 3 standards on Cavendish, but put down 2 times your standard on him to win stage 5 at 5/2.

The bet of the day is Rochus to beat Klassen at 7/19. Put 10 times your standard on it.

To be honest, today is a stretch but we might get lucky and we have a huge buffer if it doesn't go well.

Wednesday 7 July 2010

Large Profit, but not a good day.

Yes we saw large profit today of £79.03, increasing our total profit after 12 days to £532.70, but we only got 50% of our selections correct and once again the bet of the day saved us.

12 Bets of the Day, 12 Winners, and total profit from these alone is £499.75!

Day 12

Jack Bauer only made it to Day 8.

I'm going to start with the bet of the day. I am 11 for 11 so you may find it strange that I am picking something with relatively high odds.

Put 10 times your standard on Spain to qualify at 18/19.Spain are the best international team in the world.

They have 6-7 world class players who, more importantly, play in the same way. The Germans have looked good against England, no holding midfielder of note, and Argentina with just the one holding midfielder and some high defending.

Spain hold with two midfielders and keep discipline with at least one full back at all times. They don't panic like England or Argentina, but continue to play in the same way until the full time whistle.

They will be flustered at the back at times because they haven't defended with much confidence in this world cup so far, but in terms of attack each team they have faced has defended deep and hoped to score on the counter attack. The Germans struggle to defend deep as seen against England, and even Argentina created 4 goals scoring opportunities in the game. The Germans were happy to absorb the pressure playing with 8 men behind the ball but they will have to play with at least 9, perhaps 10 players behind the ball against Spain. The counter attack tactic will falter, Spain will unlock the average German defence and will go through to their first World Cup final.

Snatch Ireland to beat Canada in the cricket at 2/7 with 5 times your standard.

Put two times your standard on Cavendish to win Stage 4 at 5/4.

Put your standard on a Querrey/Mahut/Fish accumulator at 0.81/1.

At less than 1% return we will not take the opportunity of Safarova at 4/9 and Sprem at 40/17. But if you wish to avoid risk then take it at a ratio of 22.1 : 51.3 on Sprem:Safarova.

Tuesday 6 July 2010

Day 11 Summary

We are now 11 out of 11 on the bet of the day, and we have a total profit of £453.67.

Rockin' Robben

Let's start with the big one, Uruguay vs Holland. Now you know I am backing Holland to win the whole thing, and I think most people will see them getting past this Uruguay side.

We'll put 10 times our standard on Holland to qualify at 3/10. It is the bet of the day.

Also back Robben to score at anytime at 2/1, put your standard on it.

Put your standard on Fish at 1/4, Mahut at 4/6, and Querrey at 1/5.

Pakistan are again above evens against Australia in the T20, so let's use the same logic as yesterday and back them at 11/8. Put your standard on it.

Bet of the day, day 10

It is easy to keep my 100% bet of the day record going with chances like these:

Tennis. ATP Newport. Beck. Harrison

Sporting Bet has Harrison at 2/1, Victor Chandler as Beck at 8/15.

23 times your standard on Harrison, 45 times your standard on Beck, gives a guaranteed profit of 1 standard.

Keep the ratio the same of 23:45 on Harrison:Beck and pile on as much as you can.

Dunga

Just a quick note. Dunga is a top manager, he is stubborn like many top managers and I believe with a little bit of guidance he would become a very good club manager.

The best in the world

It is Pakistan vs Australia today in a Twenty20 match, and Pakistan are at 6/4. T20 is a coin toss when played between top sides and Pakistan are a top side. So take 6/4 and put your standard on it. Don't worry if they lose, we'll make it back later in the series. This Pakistan side boast what I believe to be the most complete bowling attack in the world.

This is all I have for now, but I will be back today.

An answer to your request

I gave the option for some of the bbc 606 forum users to request some analysis to be done.

The following was requested:

"For a request for some analysis, I love an accumulator on the football each week. Would be quality if you could see if there is a profitable 5 team strategy. Maybe always backing the promoted teams to lose away or the league favourites winning at home."

So I took the strategy as such: An accumulator for Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal to win when at home with Burnley, Birmingham and Wolves to lose when away.

I used the matchday system to determine which fixtures to bet on and so had 38 bets of £10 each.

We obtained the following details:

Bets won: 14
Bets lost: 24
Total Profit: £117.74

The pattern was as follows:

WLLWWLWLLWLLLLLLWLWLLWWLWWWLLLLWLLLLLW

The largest win was £71.61 in the matchday when Fulham beat Burnley, Arsenal beat Liverpool and West Ham beat Birmingham.

It should also be mentioned that for long periods of the time the strategy has us in a Loss position, it took a while to recover from the 6 matchday losing streak.

Liverpool, Birmingham and Wolves let us down the most.

It may be difficult to assess which teams to select as your teams for next season, as you would expect Newcastle to perform better than your average promoted team. As well as the lack of confidence in Liverpool. So we may take a look closer to the start of the season.

I know, I know

Yes I'm very immature, I know, I know.

Here at the binocular guide we can do more than give betting tips.

Not always worth it

I'm going to start with Fucsovics vs Mitchell. Now this isn't going to be part of my tips, but it is an opportunity none the less.

Mitchell at 9/5 at Sportingbet and Fucsovics at 4/7 at SkyBet. With a ratio of 98:55 on Fucsovics:Mitchell. Put what ever you can afford on the ratio. But with a return of just £10 for each £1530 it might not provide the return you would want. However if you are completely fearful of risk, then there is none here.

Next the men's final, and it is hard to call. I have been impressed with Berdych but he is a bit of a poor man's Del Potro. I don't see the value with Nadal though so I am going for a Berdych win at 14/5. Put your standard on it. Also put your standard on Nadal to win 3-0 at 15/8.

Put your standard on Cavendish to win Stage 1 at 11/10.

The bet of the day is Justin Rose to win the At&t National at 2/5. 10 times your standard on that.

Day 8 Summary

After Day 8 we have profit of £315, with an 8 out of 8 record on the bet of the day.

And another one...

Bet365 has Pliskova at 4/9, SportingBet has Ishizu at 5/2.

Put 31.5 times your standard on Pliskova and 13 times your standard on Ishizu to make your profit of one standard.

Here comes Europe

I've not slept since thursday night so my judgement may be comprimised, but let's take the following:

Germany to qualify at 5/4 (standard)
Serena Williams to win at 1/5 (5x standard)
Spain to qualify at 1/5 (5x standard)

Bet of the day Melzer/Petzshener at 4/6 (10x standard).

C'mon Andy!

Today is a big day for me.

I want Andy Murray to win, I want Holland to win and I want Ghana to win.

But we can't let bias blind us. We need to search for value.

Let's start with Berdych to beat Djokovic at 21/20. Berdych will have learnt from the French Open and will be less nervy and he has had the tougher run to the semis. Novak Djokovic has only ever lost grand slam semi finals to Federer or Nadal so this will be something different, but I just feel that Berdych has more power on the serve and if nerves hold he'll walk it. Put your standard on Berdych.

I can't bring myself to back Nadal, so instead we'll take the over 3.5 sets at 2/5. Put your standard on that.

We'll put our standard on Laura Robson at 4/11.

The bet of day once again comes from the boys section. Bet365 has Fucsovics at 11/10 and SportingBet has Arguello at 11/10 also.

So back both with 10 times your standard and we'll have guaranteed profit of one standard.

IMPORTANT

I once again advise you pile on as much as you can on this. It is important that whatever you put down on Fucsovics, you put exactly the same down on Arguello.

On to the football and with Holland at 23 games unbeaten I can't see them losing in normal time. So back Holland in the draw no bet at 21/10. Put 2 times your standard on it.

Take Ghana to keep a clean sheet at 5/2. Good value, put your standard on it.

Finally I have a long-term bet for you. Stack 20 times your standard on Alberto "El Pistolero" Contador to win the Tour de France at 4/7.

Thursdays Suck

Yep, they suck. There is so little activity today that I may just dedicate Thursday a shopping day, to spend all the money we've made.

Anyway in the Women's Semi Finals at Wimbledon, take Pironkova at 2/1. Put your standard on it.

For the other Semi-Final there is no value in Serena Williams at 1/12, so take her to win in straight sets at 3/10. Put your standard on that.

Melzer/Petzschner have impressed so far as a pair and although Moodie/Norman cost us yesterday, we'll go against them again. Back Melzer/Petzschner at 9/10 with your standard stake.

Put your standard on Laura Robson to beat Moore at 1/6.

The bet of the day comes from the boy's quarter finals between Golding and Olivo.

Now this will take a different form to my previous 5 bets of the day.

Sky Bet have Golding at 6/5, and William Hill have Olivo at evens.

So with 10 times our standard on Golding and 11 times our standard on Olivo. We can guarantee a profit of one standard stake.

Why? If Golding wins we win 12 times our standard, but subtract the 11 standard we put on Olivo to give profit of one standard.

If Olivo wins, we win 11 times our standard, but subtract the 10 standard we put on Golding to give profit of one standard.

IMPORTANT

I would advise you to put as much on as you possibly can. The ratio must be the same though.

Whatever you put on Golding at 6/5, you must put 1.1 times that amount on Olivo at evens.

It turns out Thursdays aren't too bad after all.
